  • carls place screens

Hi I'm thinking of getting a screen from carls place, the screen looks to be a woven mesh, was wondering if anyone on here had any experience of them?
The alternative would be a par2pro screen.

Not sure if the mesh you are asking about is similar to the mesh I had as a sample to test but it looks very close.

With my mesh it looks like what they show, but I found that the holes in the mesh let enough light through from the projector that your picture is washed out a bit. Not as bright. I had another layer of canvas behind it and you would see a shadow on that canvas. This created a bit of a blur look seeing that I could not get rid of the gap between the layers of screen.

Also after a year and a bit, the mesh started to fuzz up in the area my mid irons hit. Mainly caused by the spin of the ball. Once that area got weak it was not long till a ball went through and hit the 2nd layer. I tried to patch and played with that for a short time until I got one of Cory's HQ Raw Screen.

The HQ Raw needed edges sewed and grommets added which I did on my own. This screen is way better for image and the only issue is that I then wanted a better projector to take advantage of the better screen. I went with the optima 1080.

Pay a bit more for your screen to get a better one and you will not need to replace in a year and the image will be better from the start. Cory at Par2Pro is great to deal with and I am lucky he is only an hour and a bit away from me. Bought my GC2 from him as well.

I agree with others on Corey's HQ screen. I suspect the issues with the mesh are exactly as SFR has pointed out.

Not sure where you live, but I bought my impact screen (PR-20 white) from West Coast Netting. The image quality is decent when using a projector. They also have the PR-100, which is a high resolution impact screen. I found West Coast Netting to be reasonably priced and received great customer service. Just another option in case the HQ screen does not work for you. You can get an automatic quote directly online.

                Hope this helps!

I have had a Carl's Place screen for 5 months. I have had no issues with it and watch movies . I just ordered a West Coast Netting PR20 screen for my 2nd home. It was a little cheaper and they do custom work, great customer service. I'm sure an HQ screen is superior it is also 3 times the price. I'll do a comparison when it gets here.

What are your opinions on the PR-20?

SwingHarder For me, they are both great screens for the money. I have not had a single issue with either one. We watch movies and really like the picture. The PR 20 is a little cheaper and you can order it exactly the way you want it.
