  • Outdoor Sim Questions/Advice

I am building a sim on my patio that will consist of the following. Google and I have gotten really close in the past few months and tried my best to find the answers I am looking for, but can't find the answers.

My questions are under the topics and any other suggestions/advise/pointers would be greatly appreciated:
    • Launch Monitor: Uneekor Eye Lite Mini (EML)
    • Software: GsPro
    • Monitor: 55” TV (possible projector in the future).
    1. Enclosure 2 options/suggestions:
      1. 1" EMT (10'-12'w x 9'h x 4'd). For protection from bounce backs, I am using pipe insulation and gutter wedges for the floor edges.
      2. Cage netting (10w x 10h x 5'-10'd): Strung from my deck to 6x6 in the back using SS cable a carabiners with it attached to the platform on the bottom for easy removal.
        1. Should I stick with 12' or go 10" wide?
        2. Anyone have an encloser that is 9’ high? What is a good ball to screen distance to catch the high wedge shots? Uneekor recommends 10'-12', which I am assuming is to cover their a$$, but is anyone 7' - 8' away? If so, how it is and the bounce back?
    2. Netting: 10' x 30' sides/top & 10’-12' x 10' front/sides/top
      1. Can anyone recommend how to attach the netting to each other, cable ties?
      2. Can anyone recommend how to attach the netting to the EMT (velcro strips, bungie cords)?
        1. Don’t want it tight, want it loose so the netting to absorb the ball impact.
        2. Any suggestions on tension?
      3. Should I put something behind the netting for extra support to help absorb the impact?
    3. Impact Screen:
      1. When/if I get a projector can anyone suggest an impact screen for outdoor use?
        1. I know that a good HD can make a world of difference and so does a high lumens project, but don't want something expensive since it will be outdoors.
        2. Are there any DIY impact screens out there?
    4. Hitting/standing platform: 1" foam tiles for the base and ripped down PT 2x4 for the framing, each wrapped in outdoor turf. The 2x4s will attach to the concrete on the four sides and turf wrapped tiles will drop in.
      1. Can anyone recommend something to attach the turf to the tiles and 2x4s that is durable to withstand the elements?
    5. Outdoor Turf (pending):
      1. Can anyone recommend a durable turf that won’t break the bank and will withstand weather? Want something that is the same pile height (3/8”) to match the hitting/divot strip.
    6. 2' x 3' Hitting/divot strip: (Money Putt or Precision Putt Pro). Going off this video https://youtu.be/z2mrWhqTvWA?si=GwWHydQQesKHuzGF .
      1. Anyone have experience with either? Have a preference over one than the other? Or have a less expensive alternative?
      2. Thinking about having a piece as wide as my hitting/divot strip (same turf) for putting from my hitting strip to the screen. Anyone have this?
      3. I remember seeing a post somewhere (can’t find it) with a link to a place that sells smaller sections (Money putt or Precision) instead of buying it in 15’ lengths. Everywhere seen says I have to buy 15’ lengths or pick up in person for smaller sections.
Thank you for taking the time to read and I am sure the above will open more questions, but appreciate any/all suggestions.

    Thank you,
    Jeff
