Want to do a built-in screen, but ran into a problem

I am prepping my 3rd garage and when I am finding studs they are at different lengths from the backwall. One is 13" from the wall the other is 16" so it's not going to be easy like the youtube shows.

Is there an easy way to fix this? Do I get a 1x6 and anchor into the studs on both sides then align the anchors on the 1x6's?

Anyone ever had a similar issue?

Hi Eric did you fix the issue. I get what you are saying and you had the right idea. Add some PL adhesive as well if only attaching to one stud as you'll be creating stress on one side and better to add extra grip.
