It seems most people are using 1" EMT. If my cage is 13' will the cross members sag? Anyone use a larger sized pipe for better rigidity? If so, what are the material recommendations?

Use good quality canopy connectors. You will find ones that are very solid online Nb if you stay away from cheap stuff, then you should be fine. In your case you would cut two 10 foot pipe to just over six feet each (the just over will depend on the length of fitting you buy) and connect.

I think I got mine from creative shelters, they are not that expensive, but I missed one piece in my ordering and so I got something cheap for one section and it is no where near as good as what I bought from creative shelters and hence my comment.

What size tubing did you use? What was the span?Originally posted by Mazenblue View PostI bought my good quality fittings from Tarps. Two different simulators and they both sagged a little. If you have a joist you can put up a bracket in the middle. 1 3/8 will do the trick.
I plan to mount my projector to a 3ft pipe off a tee from the front cross member. I prefer to keep it free standing.

Total span was 12'. I put the splice at 10'. I use 1" EMT. I like the idea of mounting the projector to the cross member. I have seen it done before. I wonder if you will get some projector shake? Anyone here that have that setup care to comment?

My goal is to keep the cage free standing and by mounting the projector to the cage, I can run all the wires with the cage vs, through/along ceiling and walls. I also plan to use a Through Tee for the projector mounting pipe so I can slide it side to side for primary location adjustment....then drill and throughbolt the Tee to lock down the final location.
I was wondering about both sag and shake....that is why I am looking at 1 3/8 or 1 5/8 CLF instead of EMT.
I am also considering using cable instead of pipe to mount the screen on top and sides....this will prevent being able to hit pipe with a golf ball.

I just finished this today. I used 3/4 pipe and I placed J-hooks at all corners, 2 extras on each side and 3 on top. The corners are actually loose and the pipes are being pulled into the j-hooks by the bungies. My room is 15 feet wide and the screen is 14 feet. Of course the first thing the kids wanted to do was watch StarWars on the BIG screen.
This is my screen frame. Not necessarily a cage. Just clarifying
