Low visibility netting??

I am using a regular projector screen that I bought at a yard sale. Even though we are using those foam "almost golf balls" right now, I'm concerned that the screen might get torn. What is the best netting to put in front of my screen, but not affect the picture to much, please? The projector is 2700 lumens. Should I use white instead of black? And how far from the screen should I hang the net, 6 inches maybe?? Eventually I'll make a DIY impact screen, but this is my set up for now. Thanks in advance!

Why don't you just buy a proper impact screen now? Any netting in front will impact your image quality.

I'm watching DIY impact screen video's on YouTube, like you suggested Bubba22, good plan. I'll search for a impact screen thread in this forum too. I'm new here and still finding my way around.
