1" or 3/4" conduit for enclosure

I want to have a 10'Wx9'Tx5'D enclosure. I see that most companies sell fittings for 1" conduit pipe. Is there any reason why you could not use 3/4"?

I use 3/4" EMT and I've had no problems. It's 10' wide, maybe if it was a lot wider 1" would be necessary.

You really need the structure to be as heavy as possible unless you are planning to bolt it to the floor. A light structure will move all over the place if you have any ball speed. Unless you have the projector bolted to the frame moving the frame will screw up the image projection. Conduit tubing is pretty thin wall so even 1 inch is fairly light.

I have 3/4 with pipe insulation and it does just fine. It is 10 feet deep though so a bit heavier. I have intentionally and not so intentionally hit off the pipes and no issues. The projector is mounted to the back frome but that probably isnt an option for you since it is only 5 feet. I dont know that the frame will move that much though. mine doesnt but hitting the frame does cause the projector to tilt down sometimes. I just have to nudge it up with the butt of the club. I dont think 1 inch would hurt though since price difference is minimal.

I use 1" and feel that is perfect. Not really sure why you would go with something that is less when the cost diff is marginal at best.
