min room size?a

i have a gc2a and am anxious to get going; the ultimate goal is to create a full simulator in a spare bedroom that is approx 14 feet long and 16 feet wide, w 10 ft ceiling. After reading many of these threads I am now concerned there is not enough room to have a 1 ft space behind screen/net and leave minimum appropriate distance from hitting position to screen and leave comfortable distance behind hitting station. What would be appropriate mins for distance from ball to screen and behind the ball to rear wall? Not worried about hosting parties, just me using it.

Also, will I have centering issues using the GC2 and hitting from center of room?

I may hang a net first just to get going, thinking west cost netting of some sort; any particular model to use? I would eventually use the net to back the screen.

As a fall back, I could probably put this in a family room, which would give more room but I would need a cage.

Trial and error my friend. Set up a net and swing. There was a sim install guy on here time back saying he installed sims in 10x12 rooms. You need 7 feet from ball to back wall so with 9 feet to the wall, you should have room for a screen and have more than 8 feet to screen.

You have enough space. There is no minimum distance requirements between a GC2a and the screen or the far wall. I have a comfortable 10ft from ball to screen. You can try 7-9 ft. and see which maximizes your overall utility. Best to keep the screen at least 1ft from wall, that thing displaces quite a bit during play which a net may not help much. My room is 15ft. wide, and I decided not to center my hitting position. I placed it 8.5ft. from the wall behind the golfer so I never have to think about that left wall during driver swings. Depending on which wall you want the screen on, you have to stand in your room and see if you will need to offset ball position. But know that many here play with an offset. Foresight software already works with offset setup, so no issues there. Word is that TGC is going to help an offset setup in the next update which is right around the corner. Good luck.
