help with screen bleed sheet

Hi Guys,

I've found this forum an invaluable source of info and its greatly helped guide me in creating my golf sim room in my rather small UK single garage.

I've just put my hitting screen up today, its the archery baffle type. I've got my Skytrak on order, and TGC installed and ready to go. i'm picking up a Optoma GT1080 tomorrow, however I know with this type of net there will be a lot of screen bleed, I've hung some carpet 4 inches behind the archery net to help deaden the impact and its a mottled grey colour, should I hang a sheet in between the archery net and the carpet to stop / limit screen bleed / shadowing? if so should the sheet be white or black?

Tommyseb that looks exactl lie what I am doing. UK garage right? I was fitting my mat today and had a proper swing, figure I can only do up to hybrid as I don't think I have the width to accommodate a driver follow through, height is fine though. You look to have a similar width to me.

BennyG, yeah I'm in the Uk, my mat hasn't arrived yet, i ordered the Country club elite hitting panel from the US, I can just about swing a driver but it doesn't feel like my normal swing yet, I'll probably get my old driver shortened a couple of inches just to be safe.

Mthunt, the room is a cosy 8ft 10" wide, 19ft long and 10ft high..

I was looking at the CCE Mat too. In the end I couldn't see it being economically viable by the time shipping and import duty had been applied. I spoke with Huxley Golf and they have a version of the product that replicates the fat action of club grabbing and has a dense pile that takes a tee. It's called Huxley Premier Pro Tee Turf 2. It is pretty sweet and I managed to get a huge mate 6'x5' for much less than getting the smaller CCE equivalent. It's the same turf that is installed at Wentworth, Gleneagles and St Andrews, so it'll do me in a pinch.
Also, I really don't seem to have he width for driver, maybe 3-wood.
Is your net right in front of the door? If so, how do you retract it, do you untether it manually every time?

i did look at the Huxley range, but i didn't want to get a full size hitting mat, so went for 2 3x1ft hitting strips of the CCE mat, haven't checked my statement yet but i think it is around £125 all in.. i tend to hit down on the ball quite steeply and the low quality old mats at my local range tend to give me golfers/tennis elbow after a while so hoping the CCE is a bit easier on me... Yeah the net is 10" from the main garage door, i didn't really know the minimum distance, and with the tautness of the net 10" wasn't enough to stop the odd ball from hitting the metal garage door mechanism so i installed the carpet in between the 2 and that solved that issue, but now there is a bit more rebound... the carpet is glued and tacked to a length of wood which in turn has 5 hooks, and i put 5 hook eye's in the rafters so its really easy to take down. the net is bungied to the wirerope at the top and clipped to the sides, takes around 2 mins to unclip it all and hang it on the wirerope so i can open the door. But i'm looking to seal the garage completely, the other half just saw the projector in action for the 1st time and said it would make a good cinema room so that's given me the green light to block the door in completely

very nice, were did you get the rail system from? that would have made more sense than the wire rope I used.

Where in the UK are you guys from? And yeah, our builders suck when it comes to deciding the size of our garages lol park a car in some and you can't open the door to get out haha

Btw, did your netting come with so many grommets along the top or did you add more in yourself?

Northampton. If you wanna go the grommet route you can get yourself a tarp repair kit and do it yourself.

Berkshire, my net (golfnetsonline.co.uk) came with grommets at the top and bottom, I used tekton tarp grips down the sides. I did buy a grommet kit, but couldn't get it to cut through the net so got the tekton grips, much easier...

The Teckton tarp grips are quality bits of kits for the money, I was dead impressed by how tough they seem.

I'll have to give them a go. Got my net from Net World Sports, and even have a grommet press, but can't get anything to puncture their material lol at least it makes me feel safer that a golf ball shouldn't go through it

Nice, might have to give them a go... unfortunately, my garage is full, so I'm having to go the outdoor route. Getting there... Just received my cce mat, so building a frame for it and my stance mat. Just hoping the weather holds out here in Northern Ireland lol

I have those same exact clips holding both my HQ screen and net with 4 on top and 4 on each side and it hasn't move a bit since I set it up in may. I don't think you will be disappointed and if you are worried just add a few extra clips then you think you might need on each side.
