  • PR20 Backing (Net/Black Fabric/Other?)

I'm starting my setup with the PR20 as my impact screen (if I find I'm dissatisfied with bleed through, I'll upgrade to HQ, but for now I think this will work). I've read that a black backing material helps a lot with bleed through. Also, I know it is necessary to have something behind the impact screen for longevity's sake. Most people are using a golf net, but my question is, what do you guys think about combining the bleed through and reinforced support needs into one and getting black fleece fabric stretched tight behind the impact screen?

I'm sure this would help with bleed through, but I'm curious about the support/reinforcement. How tight should the back up net/fabric be? My PR20 is set up so that I can push the screen back ~ 1 foot, maybe a little more. Should the backing be as tight as I can get it so that it provides the bulk of the support/stopping power for the ball?

Would I be better off using a black fabric PLUS golf net as support?

I have 1 inch netting behind my par2pro HQ screen and would suggest the same - it's cheap and works well. On the edges of my screen, I have the extra material folded over and I use tarp-clips. When projector is off, I can llearly see the folder over material and i sometimes bugs my OCD centers. With the projector on, you can tell it's there, as the colors are bolder on the doubled over material. I'm going to back up the HQ material with some "black-out" fabric from the local Joann fabrics store. it's cheap and has a rubber coating to block all light. I actually use it as the screen on a home theater set up on the other wall. It's pretty robust, and in Theory could be a mechanical back-up for you if you string it tighter than the screen. good luck.

Thanks awisnia, I decided on something similar. Just have a black net behind the impact screen for now and once I see how projection looks with that, I may get some black out fabric too. Appreciate the input!

How do you install the netting behind the screen? I'm planning on using the angle iron technique that Cory recommends from par2pro and using bungee cords. Do you just do the same on the netting?

I just have my net stretched from corner to corner around my frame, held in place with zip ties. I'll be posting video/pics once my set up is complete (about a month out or so)

I got some 3/8 rope and wove it in around the edges of the netting. The bungee ball cords to tension to my frame. It took trial and error to weave the rope in the correct column of the net.
Working...
