First sim build: Need advice

I'm building a home and we're putting a simulator in the basement: The problem Im running into is ceiling height. We planned for 9ft ceilings but with floor joist and adding matting and a hitting surface Im looking at a lil over 8 1/2 ft. I'm 6'3" and have swung driver down there but its extremly close! I have a good swing plane but some of buddies not so much! Im considering adding plywood for the first 6 of 7' and using a padding or protectove substance. Has anyone done this and what should I use to make it look clean and professional yet not decreasing my space even more: Thinking of using Skytrak for the brains. Any advice would be awesome

At your height I can see this not being enough for you with the driver, and probably your woods as well.

I've taken practice swings in my room with an elevated platform and i have a few inches to spare with Driver! Any suggestions on protecting the ceiling?

Sure put plywood. That'll protect your ceiling but you'll ruin yours and your buddy's swings because you'll all be worried about the ceiling all the time. You'll limit your room to irons safely ultimately then look for ways to lower the floor. Given "it's a new build", why not put a deeper foundation in that room and put an extra foot?

Even with your few inches of room, don't be surprised if you don't hit your normal distances. I'm betting you will not swing like you normally do with the limited height you have. If it's still possible and within budget really consider getting yourself some more height.

Its a basement and is what it is at this point! Could move it out to garage but were doing a theatre room too! I totally understand prob not swinging as hard as I may outdoors but its mainly for practice during Iowa Winters! So its just irons Im okay with that! Any suggestions for flooring/ceiling protection?
