    8 Feet wide impact Screen

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking to build a golf simulator in my garage and I have a space that is 8 feet wide but I am not sure what the height of the screen should be?

Preferably I would like a projector to completely fill the screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Regards
    Ed

you can use a tool like this http://www.draperinc.com/projections...alculator.aspx to help work out the aspect ratio and there are lots of other tools online which can show which projectors can give you what you require. The critical thing to think about is ceiling height as you need space to swing. I have 9'4" or so and it is just about enough, but wish I could have found 10ft for my taller friends with their drivers.

I have about an 8' wide screen in my garage setup, and it's @ about 9' 6"~ ish height. I have an optoma GT1080 short throw pj. Which works really well. I use it in 4:3 aspect ratio and it fills the entire width, but it would need to be wider to fill the heighth. There is probably 3-4' of blank combined between the bottom and top of the image, but it looks good if done correctly. Especially if you border the image with material or another product.

I've redone mine several times and am finally on my last iteration. I will post some pics once completed, hopefully in the next week or so.

9'4" isn't enough?! I've been swinging my driver in my current rental house (garage) and it feels tight and affects my performance (it's around 8.5 feet). I'm building a house with 9' basement ceilings (10' main floor, but wife won't let a simulator go up there!). I was thinking the 9' basement ceiling would be enough?! I'm 6' tall. I'm going to take my driver over there and find out!

I think it depends how you swing, if you have a flatter swing you are probably fine. I'm 6' and 9' seems to work for me.
