  • Screen Repair

The hitting screen that I received in my enclosure kit has developed a hole. I'm obviously pretty consistent with at least one of my irons and I have already worn a hole through the screen. I tried duct tape and that didn't work. Has anyone been able to repair a worn hole or tear in their screen? I'm pretty disappointed my screen didn't last a full season. Went just 9 months and I'm only playing roughly 2-3 rounds a week on it. One would think it would last longer than that.

I cannot help your problem but the fact that i have seen numerous of these posts while surfing the forums really worries me. What is the expected life of a impact screen? FYI - I have the Par2pro HQ screen and if i have to buy another one next season i will be very disgruntled to say the least.

It depends on a lot of factors. How often you hit, how hard you hit, what clubs you hit most frequently with, how much spin you get, how consistent you impact points are, condition of your ball etc, etc. But expected life is from less than a year to several years. Personally I think the HQ screen is too expensive for how long it lasts and my next one will be something cheaper.

Make sure your balls are clean with absolutely no roughness, Don't use high spinning balls to practice with. Minimize practicing full wedge shots repeatedly into the same area. You should get more than a year.

What I did was get a white "patch" and sewed it on the back side. I play about three times a week, some weeks 4-5, but that has been pretty rare. My tear came where I hit my 7-iron. And once the tear appeared I "watched" and I'm pretty darn consistent with that 7-iron and where it strikes. Played probably 7-8 rounds so far with the patch and it seems to be work and is not horribly looking when the game is on, but you can definitely tell something is back there. Tried white duct tape, but it did not work at all.

Haha yea duct tape is definitely not the solution, was funny how quick that didn't work after I tried to tape mine a bunch. Saved the old HQ screen I have with the holes in it for the material so I can make future repairs to my supertex screen if I eventually need to do it, for the supertex price though Id probably just buy another one.
