  • Looking for advice, trying to improve my simulator image

So I've had my simulator about 2 months now and I'm very happy with it overall. My screen is 109"w x 100"h. I have 3' black side and top walls and an Optoma 1080p projector.
I have it set up at 4:3 now and I see people here saying they "mask off" the unused portions of the impact screen. What exactly does that mean and what do you do?
Also would I benefit from hanging a black sheet behind the screen to improve the picture?

Back at the beginning of 2015, I had a go at turning my 2 car garage into a simulator room. One of the main issues I faced was that I had to have it collapsable...

Check out post 21. That's what I use to mask off my white bits!
Masking off is essentially putting some black fabric over the bare white parts of the screen, so the only visible white bits are where the projected image goes.
It doesn't really do anything, other than make it look more complete.

Gotcha, thanks for the reply. Yours looks great by the way. I will probably end up doing that, does finish it off nicely

Back when I put my simulator package together three years ago a short throw HD projector didn't seem to exist, anyone aware of any developments on that front?
