Enclosure length question

Do you build your enclosure so you are completely inside of it while hitting? right up to the edge? Shrugging different? My fittings should show up tomorrow and I am excited to start building, but want to do it right.

the measurements are pretty standard across the board on the location of hitting and a full cage system depth.
