  • Cage vs Screen size

    Hi,

I am about to order DIY materials for a hitting cage in my garage (Skytrak/TGC) as well as an impact screen (probably Supertex).

Would really appreciate some input on dimensions before I order.

Max depth of the room: 13.5 feet (4.4meters)
Max width available: 10 feet (3.3meters)
Max height available: 8-10 feet (2.6-3meters), pending the placement --> Close to the wall: 8 feet (leaving 13.5 feet of depth available), and able to go to 10 feet if I cut off ~1.5 feet of the room depth.

What would you advise? A bit taller cage at 10 feet of height or go for the 8 feet version?

Seems to me as I will be projecting at 4:3 an 8 feet screen should be fine, but I have read on the forum that taller is better.

Secondly: how big should the cage be versus the impact screen? I have seen 1 example of a shop cages of 120 by 120 accompanied by a 108 by 108 impact screen, so a gap of 12 inches. Does that make sense or should it be a smaller differential?

    Thank you!!

Can anyone advise? Would be great to get some input from people that have gone through this process before. Thank you!

I'd agree that taller is better. It means you can hit wedges without fear!

My screen has a 2" gap right round between it and the frame. I have 2" of a border (Velcro with the grommets fitted), so my actual white screen is 4" at either side smaller than my frame.

Cory at Par2Pro had the screen made based on my frame size. I just went with it, assuming it's right.
