Total newbie here, so be gentle. I'm a coach at a small D3 college in Michigan, and we FINALLY got approved for a space on campus to hit balls in the winter. The room is long, like 70 feet by 30, 11 foot ceilings, and the priority is room for two people hitting. I'm trying to figure out the best way to enclose the space. It has windows all down one side, and will be used by college kids. So balls not crazily bouncing around is a priority. We have a FS Xi Tour we use primarily outside, but obviously we will want to use it here now. So I'm thinking netting with a tv screen off to one side of the hitting bay would be the best use. Here's a picture of the space.
So you can see one of our mats on the ground in the distance of the photo. I want two hitting bays next to each other, so I was thinking I would make one large netting enclosure that encompassed both hitting mats. I know I'll need some pretty serious netting here, and I have a tiny amount of money to spend, but not infinite. I also need to make sure balls aren't busting into the ceiling, since there are lights up there.
Almost all of the advice here is for one hitting bay, and most of the netting is easier that way. My initial thought was just a ton of netting, hung from the ceiling with fish hooks, plus archery netting or similar at the end downrange. Maybe more in the ceiling? Unfortunately with the low budget here I'm stuck with a DIY job, but I think the room has tremendous potential if I can get it set up.
Hopefully later this year we'll invest in a Skytrak to add in to the FS.
