  • Rollable screen frame

After much dilemma about screen sizes, i think I may have stumbled (or drank upon in view of my layout) a way that I can have the desired screen I want.

I have a room that is about 4.6M wide, but I have a door on the left side that is 80cm of the door width which would mean the screen size is 3.6M or roughly 11.52 feet. This won't work.

So the current size, if I can work this out will be 4.5M wide (14.75feet) X 2.53M (8.3feet) tall. I think this should work just nicely.

The problem is that I'd cover the door however I came with an idea. Can I make the frame a rolling frame so that I can push it into a paritial wall during storage? Even just 1 M (3.3 feet) would mean my room design can work.

    See the attached.

    My questions are

    1) Has anyone build a frame with metal pvc on wheels before?
    2) Does the hitting matt / hitting area need to be exactly in the center of the display?

Are you using GC2, Protee, Skytrak?

If lighting or projector wouldnt get in the way, people have made screens that lift up toward the ceiling. Is that an option? That way you would just have to drop the screen down, instead of rolling in and out.

Hi Stevew. Thanks for the reply. I'm currently (about to use) the Optoshot 2 and maybe upgrade to one of the systems you mentioned in the future.

I don't think lifting up would be an feasible option because this is in my house/home office and it would be lifted up way too often (bio/beer breaks) and given that it is in my office I don't think I want a frame overhead at 14+ feet wide.

I'm thinking the rolling solution may work or something on a sliding track. I'd like to keep it as lightweight as possible too

    Hi All,

Can anyone recommended with a wood frame or EMT pipe or a thread that discusses? Can't seem to find a single comparison.

My screen will be 4.5M wide (14.75feet) X 2.53M (8.3feet) tall. Currently i'm using an optishot but plan to upgrade to a Skytrack, GC2, or something once I understand a little bit more about the pricing structure, drawbacks of each system.
