Just about done with my basement sim. I appreciate the tips and insight I found by following this site. It really helped out when deciding what items I should purchase or how to reduce the rebound/bounce back from shots. My space is about 17' wide x 15' deep with 9' ceilings.
Here are the items I went with:
Launch Monitor: SkyTrak (~ $1700)
Case: Ordered the FMJ that was created by one of the forum members ($95)
SIm: JNPG but may move to TGC next year ($250 + $35 for the game)
Projector: Optoma GT 1080 (4:3) ($620)
Computer: Already owned (nothing special, has a dedicated NVidia graphics card, i3 processor, and 8 GB RAM)
Screen: 9' x 10' Supertex (hanging) ($180)
Padding behind screen: two layers of heavy duty moving blankets worked great (~ $100)
Platform: (3) 4'x10' sheets of 1/2" OSB with (3) 4'x10' sheets of 3/4" MDF over top (4x4 beams around perimeter) (~ $130)
Hitting Surface: (3) 2'x10' rough SynLawn, (1) 4'x10' fairway SynLawn, (1) 2'x10' putting SynLawn (10 stimp) and a 10"x30" CCE insert ($430)
Tees: Birtee set ($17) and tee claw ($12) (tee claw not used yet)
Roof: Added foam insulation to the area in front of the screen and covered with a 5'x10' black photographers background I found on amazon ($27)
Curtains: still need to install 5'x9' heavy duty black curtains on sliders on each side ($180)
TOTAL: $3776
If I upgrade my PC that would get me into about the $5k range. Overall I am very happy with the way things turned out and I look forward to getting some friends over once my steel cover shows up for my ST this weekend! I was looking in to if Fiberbuilt had inserts available or if the DIvotAction insert is similar in size to the CCE insert I have. DivotAction seems to be a bit wider and not quite as long. Was hoping to experiment with different inserts but so far the CCE is great and makes you hit the ball flush as others have mentioned.
Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
