which mat to choose?

looking at 2 mats... unsure of what is the best of the 2. will be used with skytrak

one is thicker than the other. what are everyone thoughts?

I have a very similar mat by Huxley to the thicker one of the two. The bonus is that it can take regular tee's, plus its generally kinder to your limbs and joints. The downside is that its very punishing on miss-strikes. You'll lose a lot of distance on fat shots as the club will grab. The thinner mat is more akin to the mats you see at a driving range, these mats give you a false sense of strike in a way as they tend to throw fat shots into the ball and you don't lose much in the way or strike and thus distance. So you can think you are swinging pretty well, when in fact you're not. I tend to prefer my thicker mat as it tells the truth on strike, although I hate it in many ways as it is not generous. the other plus is I can swing away and have no pain. I would say in the SIM world, players using the thinner type driving range mat have an advantage in a way, but its each to their own.

is that mat more to real life than the thinner of the 2 mats? i do like the thinner one just because of that little dampener layer - but yet to try any of them so can not speak on how well they perform in real life circumstances.
