  • Need suggestion on large turf but low cost

im looking for a turf that is like 13x5 or I will settle with 10x5 or 10x10. This is not what I'm going hit the ball, I'm trying to create a turf that can surround my hitting mat.

But im having trouble finding a seller that sell that size of a turf. Or it's $300+ just for 5x5.

Anybody know if any store do customs size? Should I try Home Depot and just can an outdoor fake turf?

If you're near a synlawn retailer you can see if they have remnants.

What DistinAZ said. I called an installer an bought a leftover piece for $200 (cdn). It was an odd shape, but was able to cut out a square piece approx. 10' x 7'. I trimmed some of the leftover pieces and gorilla glued them together to get very close to the final size & orientation I wanted

I went the Home Depot (Lowes actually) route and bought the cheapest stuff they sell. I thing I got a 10 x 12 piece for just over $40. They had it on a roll and cut it to size. I think the roll was 10' wide and then whatever length you want. I use it for right in front of my screen up to my hitting mat. I have foam tile from harbor freight under it. I think it look great but not as good as Mikeingp's. Cost was a definite consideration for me. I used carpet tape for one side of it and my screen frame sits on another side. I don't have a good picture of it but can post one later if interested.

The foam tile sound like a great idea. I need some of those for my walls too. Jb50 is the stuff you got from Lowes just a outdoor turf? Any padding or any thickness to it?

It's very thin with no padding. Don't think it would work too well without some kind of padding. Also, I originally just tried the foam padding without the grass and it was very bouncy. When I put the artificial grass over the top of it, it really deadened the ball. Not much bounce at all. I was pretty surprised it made as much as a difference as it did. I think there are probably a couple of thoughts to consider IMHO:
            1. Is it going inside the house and are you spending top dollar on everything else? Mine's in my garage and I am the only one who ever uses it. The cheap stuff was perfect for me.
            2. It's kind of a pay me now pay me later thing. I will probably go through my turf much quicker than the more expensive turf but I could replace my turf 5x's and be around $200.

The foam tile was very cheap from harbor freight also. I believe it was $7 for 4- 25" squares. One note on that though, I didn't buy enough originally and went back to get some more. The next batch I bought did not match up with the first bunch I bought. After measuring them, I found they were about a 1/2" different in size. They were supposed to be the same. I took them back and before I bought more I measured them first. I couldn't find any that were the right size. Had to go to another harbor freight to find what I needed. Mentioned it to the manager and showed him the difference but he didn't seem too concerned.

I notice there are three lines on you're mat. Can I ask what the lines on your mat are for (or are they just for your own alignment)?

Yeah, I just painted them on to help with setting up my Skytrak and to help work on my alignment as well.
              Working...
