  • Has anyone else been tricked into buying a fake real feel mat?

I recently decided to put together my first simulator setup in my garage and my experience so far has been rough. I ordered all of my items from Spectrum golf and Chip seemed to be very helpful at first. After I received everything I noticed that the Real Feel mat I paid $430 for had a giant seam in the middle. When I contacted Chip he told me it was completely normal and assured me that it was a genuine "Real Feel" mat.
Long story short, I contacted the manufacturer directly and they confirmed that Chip was selling a knockoff mat and not the CCE Real Feel mat that you would expect for the price tag of $400 to $500. He completely denies that they're not "Real Feel" mats and acts like he is doing nothing wrong.
Has anyone else dealt with him?

Damn Zane, that's bs. I don't know chip, but hopefully you'll help out someone else on this forum moving forward. As far as validity, wouldn't surprise me a bit. Good luck getting this settled...

Never dealt with them. Is there a website showing the item?

Looks like their website is Golfsimulators.net

Any chance you paid via cc, they may be able to help you if you get the info directly from cce about their mat.

Yes I paid by CC and have disputed it already. Chip admitted that it isn't made by the same company but still insists a "Real Feel" mat. Costco offers the correct mat for $449 shipped and with their lifetime warranty you can't go wrong!

Real drag if it's not authentic. How is the mat? Post a link to their website.

I sent it right back and didn't even try it. For $400+ I'll go with a proven product.

can anyone help me put together an enclosure and screen combo that won't have this bounce back?

Go to tarps.com and order the connectors you need, then go to your local HD, Lowes, Menards, etc to get the 1"emt and build it yourself. Get a net based on the size you need and then i suggest getting in on the screen directly from the mill order. There are options out there to deaden any bounce back, mattress toppers, multiple layers of netting, adjusting tension using tarp clips.

Thanks wbond! I already have the frame built and it's 3/4" EMT. Does it make sense to redo everything in 1"?
The current frame is 11' wide by 8'3" high with 4' sides and top panels.
Can I just ditch the screen and black support panel behind it and switch to something that will actually work?
I'll go take some pictures now and post them for your feedback.
