  • DivotAction or CCE or other for frequent bad shots behind the ball?

I am very new to golf, taking 4 lessons since July, am at the range or backyard with wiffleballs 3-4 times weekly, and played about eight rounds. I frequently hit behind the ball, and have caused pain to my right wrist as a result. I believe this is mostly from hitting on the range mats, but possibly real grass as well.

I am in the early stages of planning a sim room for the whole family, including much better lifelong players. I have spoken with Cory at Par2Pro and John with CDG. I read a number of threads here, but I am still unsure on which mat in my budget: CCE or DivotAction?

I am fairly sure I’ll get SkyTrak. Mat will be on top of a 1” rubber flooring material.

Will CCE help me fix my bad behind-the-ball shots quicker, by giving feedback? Or is divot action absolutely required in order to prevent further injury?

If you already have an issue with pain in the wrist, no way should you go with a CCE. I'd definitely vote the Divot Action over the CCE. Also, I would suggest lessons to help improve swing/ball striking.

I have a skytrak and a divotaction. I havent had any wrist or elbow pain from a year of using it. This was a very important decision for me when building my sim, and was influenced by the pain i would get at driving ranges, hitting off their mats. The divot action is the perfect solution IMO. It allows you to hit down through the ball, you don't get any pain from using it, and you can putt off of it with great ease.

Thanks for the reply. Out of curiosity, have you also tried other mats?
