  • Divotaction Questions

So after developing "golfers elbow" using my CCE over the last few weeks, I've decided to make a change. My choice now is between Fiberbuilt, TrueStrike, and DivotAction. I'm heavily leaning toward DA but I have a couple of questions:

    1. How loud is it when you hit a ball? I used to have an OptiShot and I distiked the sound it'd make when you hit down on the ball. Is the DA sound similar?
    2. How hard is it to insert a DA into a mat and get the height aligned to the mat? I don't want it sticking up around the edge of the mat

Finally, I'm not a very good handyman, but DAs look pretty easy to build from a couple of posts I've seen on there. But no one has posted a step-by-step guide like they have for the gel insert mats. If any of you who've made your own DAs would be inclined to to post something like that for those of us that are less skilled in DIY, I'm sure many of us would appreciate it.

    Thanks!!!

Personally I can only speak for the Divotaction. If you were to buy one from customdesigngolf, they are 1 1/4" thick. If your hitting mat is thicker than that, then you will need to put something under it to prop it up. If its DIY, then you can make it whatever height you want it. Hitting on it makes the same sound as hitting of a regular mat imo. It gives so you dont get the elbow or wrist pain, and yet you can putt off of it easily. The fiberbuilts, from what I have seen others post on here, is that they are great to hit off, but not ideal for putting. Truestrike I dont know anything about. I have had my DA for about a year and see no reason to switch it out though. The MagStrike mats do intrigue me also, however, just not sure how they would be to putt off of.

I have recreated this a bit and got some out there for friends as mine broke pretty quickly and did not like the way they putted so far I am very happy as well as others with what I did

I too started looking at something a little nicer on my body than the Country Club Elite (CCE) insert I currently use (10" x 30" strip). The DivotAction looked enticing so I wanted to give it a try. I tried contacting Custom Design Golf twice and left voicemail both times.. never heard back. This is my disclaimer of why I feel less guilty using their design to build my own.

So.. I started digging around here and found this thread that shows some info and pictures where people built their own DA mat - https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...vot-action-mat

I bought the acrylic sheet from Home Depot and built my own version of a DivotAction this Saturday. Works great so far..

        High level steps:
        - cut out 10x30 inch section of my current golf stance mat to use as hitting surface (this way I can switch back to CCE insert if needed/wanted although it seems unlikely)
        - bought 20x32 inch acrylic sheet from home depot (cut in half and trimmed 2 inches off end so I have 2 sheets of 10x30 inches)
        - had hot glue laying around from my wife's projects (you may want to use epoxy for a stronger adhesive)
        - used exercise mat foam to cut bottom pieces (layers from top to bottom: i) golf mat glued to ii) acrylic sheet glues to iii) foam pieces

I can provide pics if you want but that thread I link above has pictures of the actual DivotAction mat showing the actual insert and foam pieces.. you just want to replicate this yourself.
