  • Stance mat for divot action insert

Hello, I recently purchased a divot action insert hoping to use it with either my ultimate matzilla mat or residential 6x10 mat from allturfmats but the thickness of the matzilla mat is too great and residential mat is too thin. I was wondering what suggestions people have for an affordable mat to use with the insert without needing to elevate the insert or the mat to make them match. I guess I could always go with the mat from custom design golf but was hoping for something cheaper as I have already spent money on the matzilla and 6x10 mats and was hoping to avoid additional large costs. Thanks for any suggestions.

Was hoping someone out there has purchased a new mat for this purpose and can give a suggestion of a cheaper option stance mat that is thick enough.

Well if you are looking for cheaper, there really isn't anything, just shim it up to the level of the matzilla and hit away. There are usually many different thickness materials at local home hardware stores to make up the difference, or just anything to place underneath it, cardboard, etc.

As squishy underfoot as the matzilla is I am not inclined to use it as it seems to affect my swing not being stable. Another option would be to shim the residential mat to a higher level but not my preferrer option.

Ebay has some used range mats for sale. They might not be pretty but for a stance mat that might work ok.

If you're handy I made this for about $40 from a 4'x8'x3/4" sheet of plywood. Just need to throw down some turf on the top for a few more bucks.

If you haven't purchased a mat yet, I'd recommend the Duffer mat from JR Mats. It is the same company that sells the CCE mat, but the pile height is lower (can't stick a tee in it) and it is the proper height to match the Divot Action. They sell them on eBay and the quality is very good and a fair price. It is a commercial heavy duty mat that is firm to stand on. You can also certainly hit shots off it and practice swings to spare your DA from excess wear and tear. It is also the same type (nylon) and color turf that is on the DA, so it blends in nice.

Thanks I ended up getting one on eBay that seems to fit the bill. A smidge taller than the divot action islet but negligible. Works well as a stance mat.

I bought a used 5ft x 5ft CCE type mat from rawhide golf for $130 shipped. I cut out a 12x18 in hole for the DA insert. I have some thin green carpet in my sim room, so cut out an extra piece the same size as the insert and put it under the divot action. Brings them to exact same height. Will get a pic for you.

TheUsualSuspect - could you post a picture of your 5x5 CCE with the Divot Action insert installed - curious to see how it came out. Did you have to shim the DA mat at all to mesh up with the CCE mat? Thanks.
