  • DivotAtion ToGo - Quick Review

I purchased one of these to use with my existing 3 X 5 CCE mat. It provides a Divot Action hitting surface to use with an existing mat at less expense than buying an entire replacement mat, in a turnkey solution - no home fabrication or surgery on an existing mat required. The height of the ToGo matches up pretty much exactly with the CCE, and the brace/carrying handle attached to the ToGo slides under the CCE to prevent movement of the hitting surface.

In terms of performance, it works very well, and provided me with immediate distance gains as compared to most of my strikes on the CCE, without any impact shock. This is exactly what I was hoping for.

It arrived very quickly after ordering, appears well-constructed, and performs as advertised.

How firm is it? Can you ground a club behind the ball without the ball rolling?

    How is it with putting?

The surface is fairly firm and dense. The weight of a club alone does not cause the surface to deflect downwards, and the club does not measurably sink into the surface itself. A ball does not roll when a club is sitting on the surface behind it.

Putting is about the same as it is on the CCE surface. The DivotAction insert part of the unit is only 24 inches long, so with the SkyTrak laser positioned in the middle of the insert, the ball rolls steadily only for 12 inches before dropping onto end of the ToGo's surrounding structure, and then onto the floor. So it is not like a long putting strip, but not much different from what I was experiencing using TGC with the CCE as a putting surface, although that was 36 inches deep, so the ball would roll 18 inches before dropping to the floor instead of 12 inches with the ToGo.

On an unrelated note, the ToGo's surface is thin, so the Tee Claw I use with Tomahawk tees does not dig down and grip as well as it did on the thicker CCE. It's not a big issue, but the Tee Claw will sometimes "unscrew" and come free from the surface, which I did not experience when attaching it to the CCE. It should be possible to attach the Claw Tee to the CCE near where I want to position the Tomahawk tee on the ToGo, rather than placing the Tee Claw on the ToGo.

Which turf surface did you choose? I'm really interested in your solution.
        thx

Hello -- thinking about doing exactly the same setup. My CCE is hurting my left elbow. Now with 4 extra months of experience, are you still totally satisfied with the DivotAction ToGo? Do you mind PM'ing me about your sales experience? Do you know if they offer any promotions?

How long did you have the CCE before that problem set in?

I got the CCE last fall -- so it's taken that long to develop the repetitive stress injury. Now I am assuming the CCE is the culprit -- it could just be that I have never practiced more since setting up my own practice station at my house.

How thick is the mat when its dissasembled? It looks very thick. I would like to cut one into my 12 ft x 12 ft turf. Is it bendable also? Cheers.

After 2 years battling "CCE Elbow" I got a divot action insert. Since then, I'm having no elbow issues at all. I cut a hole in my 5x5 CCE mat with a razor knife to give the insert a cleaner look. In order to make the surfaces line up I added a piece of plywood underneath. Make sure the hole is small enough so the fit is very tight. Seems like fat shots are more realistic than the significant penalty with the CCE mat. Spin numbers are reported to be more accurate too.

Anybody have experience with the "1st cut" turf?

My local courses don't have tight fairway lies like these mats.
