  • Simulator Indoors on Carpet - How will this affect game/hitting off the mat?

So I'm going to be setting up a simulator in my front room (tall ceilings, basement too short) The floor is carpeted. From pictures I've seen, it seems like almost everyone installs their system on hard floors.

Will there be any issues hitting on the mat when it's on carpet? I'm guessing there will be some extra shock absorption? Will it be too soft?

I'm trying to decide between a net and going all in on a screen and projector currently, can't wait!

I am not sure how soft your carpet is but that might be an issue. Usually it should be on solid floor like concrete. I have a squishy mat and it is set on on hard concrete and I am not liking it at all. I prefer a firm stance mat at least. How flat is your carpet btw? The mat might not sit flat.

Hmm I will need to check on my carpet, I think it's fairly flat. It's not overly soft, but it's not the flat hard stuff either. Huh, I never thought that you might want a mat that's more stable for your feet, makes sense though.

Could always put a thin panel of wood on the underside of the mat between the mat and carpet?

That would be an easy and cheap fix, good thinking and thank you!

My set up has the hitting mat sitting on top of berber carpet. Don't notice anything crazy, probably less noise if anything.

Mine might be slightly softer, but I'm not sure. I can definitely try it first, but you gave me hope!
