The CCE mats can take a major beating without degradation and do well at clubs and ranges. Personally I find the CCE really nice to hit from...but for a short period of time. I am really glad that for my sim setup I went with the more forgiving Fiberbuilt. Age plays a big role too... when you're an old fart like me, the wrists and elbows need all the forgiveness they can get

      I’m using this mat
Shop commercial-grade golf mats, baseball hitting mats, softball pitching mats, and putting greens. Trusted by D1 programs and MiLB. Made in Dalton, Georgia.

I have no issues with the elbows, back or joints using this mat. It’s extremely thick, very durable.
However it is a little squishy when standing on it with sneakers. The mat also can be brutal and punishing to the numbers if you hit it fat or behind the ball.
If I had to do it all over I would have bought a larger mat 5x10 with a changeable insert. Mostly for putting since I don’t have the mat inlaid.

The FB squares came in today...….Of course had to get out of work early to install them. I bought the std fairway, rough and sand trap pieces with the intentions of changing them for the shot required. The CCE mat was fairly simple to cut and trim I used a sharp Stanley knife changing the blade twice to cut the rubber from the back then surgical shears to trim the fibers. This is going to take a few trimmings as the fibers are dense and try to move into the cut space. I had to add a piece of card board to the base to make it perfectly level.

All I can say is it is a different game all together. I was struggling to get any kind of speed and accuracy with my irons unless I picked them clean which typically ended up in a thin shot with little spin. Now my irons are dead on for club head speed and distance. And a fat shot doesn't hurt anymore. Better than that is I have been working on back spin with my wedges which was all but impossible with the CCE with out significant bounce off the mat and pain. Now I can stop a ball dead in it's tracks with great spin. But best of all no more stress on the back and joints doing it.

I was a bit concerned the rough and sand trap grass being taller by about an inch and a half would be a problem and possibly causing me to have to raise the ST unit every time but on initial use the height does not seem to effect the shots at all. It's great being able to bury a ball in the tall grass and crank it out. I think it adds a more realistic feel to the game hitting the shot closer to what I would see on the course sans slope but not much I can about that.

Now with that said I do like standing on the CCE mat it is firm and stable. I am not sure how the FB full mat would feel but it would seem to be a lot less stable judging by the density of the squares so maybe this set up is the best of both worlds.

I think the std turf was 59 then 79 for the rough and sand trap each

Man, with all of this feedback I am regretting and not looking forward to using the mat. I guess I can try to return it but I’m afraid I’ll get dinged bad for shipping. I ordered it through Par2Pro, which from my experience have been a great asset and wealth of knowledge. Not sure what my real options are at this point...It’s still unopened and sitting on my garage floor.

The CCE is a great mat to stand on. Just get a $59 1'x1' Fiber Built piece and cut it in. You will be happy. I love it now. Then you can add their rough piece and sand trap. It takes seconds to swap out and you get the best of all worlds. I was struggling with cutting a brand new 1100 mat but so glad I did.

Fiberbuilt piece may not require it....but for the Divot action to move freely I had to trim it up pretty hard.
Can you show pictures of that set up?

So what would you summarize plus/minus for your fiberbuilt vs CCE mat?

Fiberbuilt is by far much better mat. When you make contact with ball it feels like your taking a divot like you would on course.

Just a quick note on this thread. The FB sand trap pieces are not working with the ST unit. I assume it is the white fibers throwing it off. I am going to try some more shots but on initial attempt I am getting no reads off it. The std fairway and rough pieces work great.

That could be, my only thought was when I was sure I had an issue with my ST I contacted tech support. One of the questions they asked is if my clubs had any white markings on them they said the white throws the ST off. Since the sandtrap mat is pure white I was figuring that was the cause. I am going to work on it a little more to see if I can get it to read. Thanks

Try hitting a few normal punch shots off of the white section, where the club basically stops in the turf and doesn't follow through. If they register, then my first comment was the culprit. If they don't, then it's the white turf that's to blame.

Yes, SkyTrak does not like white surfaces in its field of view. I have white shoes that cause misreads and I've read of white walls giving issues as well.

As for the Fiberbuilt "sand square", I read that it was exactly the same as the rough square just in white, so I figure no one should buy all three. (Fairway, Rough, and "Sand")

I can't find the source right now, but here's a link that shows the same description for the Rough Turf and the Sand Trap Turf:

I have all of them so can confirm from visual and hitting from both they seem to be exactly the same except for the color. I have another use for the white ones so no issue for me but there is no point getting them if they are not going to read.

mthunt hey there, what mat are you using or what do you recommend per mat per setup for putting for the GC2. Imma cut a strip out of my bloated CCE and I want to do it right this time.
