  • Fiberbuilt and putting greens

I have Fiberbuilt 1x3' panel and 15x22' green from turf direct factory. dricore 2x2' are coming from homedepot this week. Hopefully I can install it this week or next week and finish the floor for the simulator setup.

Where did you get the turf from? And what does that size cost? Is it a good quality for putting on?

Did you get the 1" thick dricore, and will you just cut out a void for the 1x3 panel? I am curious how well you will be able to get the heights to match up, I am building nearly the same setup. Also curious on if your FB strip had tee holes in it or not? I'd prefer not to have them.

Yeah, I got the 1" dricore. I think only difference will be about 0.25". I'll have to see once it's installed. And yes....fb came with 3 holes. I bought extra tall rubber tee amd coffee tray to move skytrak front and back.

Can you post a picture of the FB 1x3 the way they come from the box, do they come plain or with the base, are they heavy or you need to build something to place them? i am about to order it but need to know what i am getting to match everything else..

Bongta029, I too am building a sim and would like to cut out an area that I can inlay the FB mat. Can you tell me what the total height of the FB mat is? I am assuming the 1" is the grass part of it. What turf did you buy from the Turf Factory? My samples just arrived this morning..

They come in a box and each panel is connected with L metal piece screwed under the panel. They are pretty heavy but they move a bit if you just swing on it.

I measured it today and it is 1 7/8" with the L metal drilled into the panels. If I remove that, I think it will be more flush to the 1" dricore and 1/2" green. I bought the Elite one that's 20% off from the Turf Factory Direct.

If you leave the angle irons on, it's almost 2" because of the heads of the screws. If you remove the angle irons, its still around 1-7/8" because of the round dimples molded into the plastic.

My dricore panels came yesterday. I compared it next to fiberbuilt panel with putting green sample on top of it. FB is about 1/4" inch taller. Maybe I will have to raise my putting green little bit, but I'll see once everything is installed. Now, I just need to start installing the floor.

Here are the progress over the past few days. Took about 15 hrs total to remove the carpets, tack strips, sweep, install dricore on the half side of the room, move the enclosure, and repeat for the other half. Then it took about an hour to put the green down. It was hard to keep it straight because one wall of the room was 14ft wide on 2/3 of the room and 15'3" for the rest.
And, cutting the hole for fiberbuilt was even harder to keep it straight.
At the end it turned out pretty good for doing DIY for the first time.

Bongta, how is the TF Matting for putting? How about ball bounce after it hits the screen? Thanks!
