  • Fiberbuilt 7x4 vs. 5x4

Trying to decided if I want to go with the 7x4 Fiberbuilt or the 5x4 Fiberbuilt. The difference is the extra 2' on the far side of the hitting strip for placing a launch monitor. I am using a GC2. Anybody have a GC2 and a 7x4 Fiberbuilt? Does the 2 feet give you enough room to move the GC2 around to get both irons and driver in the hitting zone? Or would it be better to have the 5x4 and just put the GC2 on the floor and have no limitation on how far away from the hitting zone you can move it?

    Thanks for your help.

I’ve got a GCQuad and wen with the 7x4. Works perfect imo.

You shouldn't have to move the GC2 around to get both driver and irons to work. It has a fairly large enough FOV to capture both a tee location and hitting spot for irons. Plus moving it around is a pain, you would want something fixed to slide it on if it was truly needed so you don't affect the alignment. As far as the larger mat or not, it will look nicer, but you can set the GC2 on something else to bring it up to the same height as the mat you are hitting from.

Okay, thanks that is helpful information. My only experience with this is at Golftec and they use the 5x4 fiberbuilt with the GC2 sitting on the ground. My experience has been when a ball gets teed up for Driver it is no longer in the FOV of the GC2 and I always have to push the GC2 further away from the mat to get it to register. I just didn't want to run in to a problem with that with the 7x4 and then I don't have room to push the GC2 back before it hangs off the end of the mat.

i use Gc2 and have the 7x4 fiberbuilt..... when i moved my sim to another room i left out the extra 2' extension....seemed no reason for it to me..i built a raised floor around my mat so didnt need the extra piece to keep the launch monitor on same level....i could see using it if your mat stands alone
