  • All Turf Mats Ultimate Super Tee Golf Mat opinions?

Am looking for a reasonably priced stance and hitting mat that I can use with a True Strike portable hitting strip that I picked up.
The True Strike is 2' high.

This Ultimate Super Tee Golf Mat is 2" high also so would be pretty close to matching the height.

Also would want to use this mat to hit balls off of for right handers that will be using my hitting bay once in awhile (I am left handed).
I would use it to hit driver off of, and also maybe for irons for a different surface to use than the True Strike as a change up.

    Anybody tried this mat?

This is the mat that I have. I think i would give it a 7.5/10.

I have 2 issues with it. The first issue is on fat shots. It can really grab the club and is too much of a penalty, taking 10 yards or so off what I think the shot really would have been off of grass. I can live with this because if I hit it fat I should be penalized. The second issue, which I don't really know why it happens, but sometimes it creates what would be similar to jumper out of the rough where i feel like I have a really good smooth swing but end up hitting a 7 iron 230 yards. Its almost like it grabs the club at impact and decreases the loft of the club if that makes sense. This issue is more frustrating to me than the fat shots.

If you are looking to use the True Strike for irons you will be just fine. I am considering purchasing the True Strike mobile, or a 3x1 Fiberbuilt strip to pair with my mat.

If I was rating it for just durability and no iron shots I would give it a 10/10. I have had it for almost 2 years and there is no sign of wear.

that wouldn't really make a very good stance mat imo, it's to squishy. I'd recommend either 1.5 or 1 5/8 interlocking mats, this is the one I use...

I see other guys use the EVA foam tiles. How much of a difference between the hitting strip and the height of the stance mat or platform is OK?
Don't want to hit all winter and change my bottom out point on swing or choke up on grip, etc.

I could just bite the bullet and buy the True Strike range section add ons, but they are kind of expensive at $139 each anad I would need three of them.

Lkdog I have a self made truestrike and fiberbuilt and both are a little under 2" and I found the 1.5" interlocking mat to be perfect that to be the perfect height for me. However I've seen them sold in 1 5/8 height and even 2" height so you could pick which you'd prefer. I think 1/2" is the biggest difference I would want, the least I'd want for my setup would be 1/4".

Lkdog here is a 1 5/8" mat i found with a quick google search...

Indoor playground flooring is available as interlocking foam tiles. Use these 4 ft fall-rated foam tiles for indoor playground floor mats.

Wouldn't you want the height of the stance mat and hitting section to be the same?

Yes. As close to level as I can get it which is 2" as far as I can tell when I measure it.

I bought the “4' x 6' Matzilla Tee Golf Mat For Sky Track” (sic) at the end of 2016 from the same company. My mat is no longer available on their site but it looks very similar to what you’re considering, and it’s now catching balls at the bottom of my impact screen. Loved the price, loved that I could put a real tee in it, and it’s doing a fine job in its current role. As mentioned above, it’s very squishy and very penalizing on fat shots. The squishiness was to the point where I was most comfortable playing without wearing shoes - in just socks or bare feet which wasn't horrible but not ideal. Most importantly though, the turf grabbed the club so hard on even the smallest of mishits that it was about to ruin both of my elbows from pain/tendonitis after one winter season of playing the tournament schedule and a couple practice rounds to prepare for each course – so an average of four rounds each week for four months. Maybe it was my swing and/or maybe their mats have improved since then.

Well, you have convinced me to not use this to hit balls off of. Ugh.

I have enough issues with my swing. LOL.

I went to Lowe's today and wandered around the aisles looking at materials.

            Here is crazy idea maybe.

This stance mat woudl be on cement floor in garage.

1 1/2 inch Styrofoam insulation board cut to a 4' by 4' square. Actually looks pretty thick and fairly sturdy.
On top of that I duck tape 1/2 inch EVA foam tiles layer. ( I know - this will be ugly)
            https://www.lowes.com/pd/Gray-Anti-F...-21-in/3111467

Total height would be 2" which would be about even with the True Strike,
It would weigh only a few pounds which woudl be nice as I need to move it out of the way sometimes.

Total cost wouldl be about $40.

I could maybe cover it with some carpet grass for looks as I would not hit balls off of it- only use it for stance.
Would need to get it tight over the foam tile layer.

Only question is if it would withstand the stress of me being on it hitting and shifting my weight ( I am 5" 11" and 200 lbs) and if it woudl move around at all.
At 4' by 4" I think it might be pretty stable and not move.

            or

you could do that but I don't think I'd trust the durability of the styrofoam. I think that there are better options like...

Framing out a stance mat with 2x4's and having a plywood top, you could also put a turf or carpet on top to make it look nicer if you want
Stack 2 1" thick foam interlocking tiles on top of each other and bond them with carpet tape (I actually did that first and it worked really well but was a little taller than I liked)
Buy these https://www.homedepot.com/p/DRIcore-...0003/205505261 and stack 1" thick foam tiles on top, the durability of polystyrene should be good
Buy 2" thick foam interlocking tiles which are hard to find, but I've seen them a few times.

Lol if you can't tell I like the foam tiles

also yes it will move around if you don't secure it to the ground with carpet tape or some sort of adhesive unless it is a larger or heavier stance mat. I have used velcro tape before so that I can remove the mats when done, worked well.

I used 2x4's turned on the side and then covered with plywood and originally the green indoor outdoor carpet. This was eventually changed to a NP50 remnant. You can see it in the pics here. Page 2 has the udpated turf top.

OK, I found a solution for a stance mat that seems to work pretty well for me right now.
I am using a 4' X 6' X 2" EzFlex wrestling mat. It is a hard firm exercise mat and feels like a firm fairway.
It matches up height wise with the Truestrike Portable almost exactly. It rolls up to get out of the way easily and it only weighs 15 lbs.

Found it on Craigslist locally for $40 when looking for golf mats....
Here it is in action. LOL.
Tried it out in garage for first time today as it is snowing and 20 degrees.
                      Iowa winters suck.
