Plans are coming together and I'm thinking about flooring/turf/mat etc. My question is what is the reasoning of building a platform? Is this simply to create a putting surface? I have a poured floor and need to figure out if I just sit the enclosure on the floor or build a platform.

Need for a platform?

I built a platform because I wanted to use a Fiberbuilt 3x1 strip to hit off and ordinary putting turf for the rest of the area. The fiberbuilt strip is pretty tall, about 2" as I recall, so it was easiest and most economical to build a subfloor around it to make it flush with the putting turf. Also you need it if you want to put putting cups in (unless you can pour them in your floor). If you have an all-in-one hitting solution like some of Fiberbuilt's practice stations you probably don't need it. For a little bit I was using the flight deck directly on the poured floor and didn't have any issues.
Now I would not recommend doing it the way I did it. I was putting mine together in stages and first built the enclosure and later installed the subfloor and turf with the enclosure already assembled. It was a royal pain.
