  • 3 flooring ideas - thoughts?

Researching for a new build and have come up with 3 potential ideas and wanted to see if anyone had any input. For reference the base layer is a concrete floor in my garage.
    1. 7x15 area with TFD putting elite on top of dricore tiles with a 9x4 fiberbuilt mat at the end of that. I believe the fiberbuilt mat is 1.75" tall and the dricore (1") plus the TFD (7/16") should come within a 1/4" or so if lining up
    2. 7x15 area with TFD putting elite on the floor with a 9x4 fiberbuilt mat at the end of that and then a 1" birdieputt putting green running from the end of the fiberbuilt mat to the screen (on top of the TFD grass). I believe the fiberbuilt mat is 1.75" tall and the birdieputt matt is (1") plus the TFD (7/16") should come within a 1/4" or so if lining up
    3. 15x15 area with TFD putting elite on top of the floor with a 9x4 fiberbuilt mat sitting on top of the TFD grass and then a 1" birdieputt putting green running from the end of the fiberbuilt mat to the screen. Height wise this should line up like option #2 but my question here is i am not sure if the fiberbuilt stance mat would work well sitting on top of the TFD grass instead of sitting on top of the concrete floor (in terms of moving/slippage etc...) - spoke to person @ fiberbuilt who did not recommend placing their mat on top of another one so that option is out

    Thanks

Looks like you are definitely leaning towards the TFP putting turf. Have you used it before? I assume it pretty good? Thanks

I have not used it before, i read some vaguely positive commentary regarding it on the forums from other users. The price is right and since this area will be largely aesthetic I am not overly concerned with "performance"

    Got it thanks!

How'd the TFD putting turf work out for you? Just curious how it putts.. Mixed reviews on the putting for the TFD stuff, but good reviews for cost and quality is good for the price..

I'm looking at ordering some, but dont want my ball bubbling around like I'm putting on berber carpeting either. Thoughts?

I am planning on installing it this weekend so I will update later when I have some thoughts (assuming everything goes smoothly)

So ill give you my quick review of the mat but first let me caution you I am possibly the most casual golfer on this forum so I am not the person to talk about "performance" or speed or anything.
I am pleased with it, annoyingly the minimum amount is 15x15 which was more than I needed but it was easy enough to cut down with regular scissors. Laid it on top of some foam exercise tiles and then put the enclosure on top of that. When putting I putt off the fiberbuilt mat which is behind the TFD/exercise mats and then the ball goes off there onto the TFD green and towards the screen. So far no complaints from me. I would not equate the TFD to "carpet", the ball runs smoothly on it and there is no bubbling.

      Hope that helps

That's great thanks! I have a fiberbuilt as well, so will be a similar setup to you putting off the fiberbuilt and on to the TFD. Glad to hear it rolls fairy smoothly. I was more concerned about that than speed.. just didn't want the ball bouncing all over the place like firm berber carpet or something like that... if the ball has a pretty smooth roll I'll be happy for the price..

I was looking at the TFD Nylon 36, which they tell me is the same as the putting elite just with different backing.. and the Nylon 36 comes in 12 or 15' rolls.. and I need a 12' x 20' section to cover my entire space so should work out perfect with little cutting.

Will the TFD nylon 36 make a good stance mat? I’m consider full carpet in my build and using some type of insert for striking.

I’m considering the same thing as jdieter, does the TFD seem durable enough to use as a stance mat?

TFD is great for stance. I’m hitting off it as well for the moment, but trying to figure out an insert for the future. Igbo be doing a rawhide mat and cutting into strips 12x24” long

I have a 12x15’ TFD roll with padding and Eva tiles underneath and it’s been perfect. I don’t want to cut an insert in because I like the clean look, but the TFD putting surface definitely won’t hold up to long term hitting off of.
