  • Matt Options When RH stands on LH hitting area

    Hi All,
I'm building my sim and have read all the reviews on matts. I was leaning toward Fiberbuilt. However, my hitting areas are offset, such that the LH and RH hitting zones are about 36" apart, which means you are basically standing on the LH hitting zone when playing RH. Vice versa for a LH hitter. I believe the old Fiberbuilt matts were uniform but now everything is "hitting strips" .... and it seems like it would be awkward to stand on a hitting strip during your stance.
    Two questions:
    1) Is it a dealbreaker to stand on a hitting strip during your stance?
    2) If is IS a big deal, then the options are basically matts that are uniform stance/hitting with no "strip" which would preclude Divot Action and Fiberbuilt. So what's left... (heard tons of complaints about CCE and tendonitis etc).

    Thanks for your input.
    Mike

You can’t (shouldn’t) stand on the hitting fibers, they’re not rigid enough to support any weight aside from the ball & tee.

With your restricted space, would be better off building your own stance mat and maybe incorporating the FB hitting strips on either ends.

Thanks... Sounds like I won't want a setup where I stand on a strip.
Then my only option is to use no strips, because being that the hitting zones are 36" apart, there is no way I won't be standing on one hitting zone at all times.

So I guess this becomes - "what is the best uniform matt (no strips)"

I’m interested in this answer too as I’m dealing with the same concern.

SBMIKE - what launch monitor are you using to allow for such a wide hitting area for LH and RH players?

          Hi,
I ended up purchasing a GC Hawk. It hasnt arrived yet.
I struggled because my room is 11' wide and I have kids who are LH and RH and I didn't want to have to move the device around. The room is too narrow to have everyone hit from the center.
The Hawk has a ball sensor zone range of 52". I have the RH hitting area about 18" to the right of center (with about 85" behind me) and the LH hitting area about 18" to the left of center. Basically symmetrical.
So the hitting areas are 36" apart, and that would basically have me standing on the tee of the other box, etc.
I ended up just ordering a Quattro matt that people have been sort of excited about, and that's basically a uniform hitting surface so no strip or anything.
          That hasn't arrived either.

          Mike
