Fiberbuilt Combo Mat Installation

Quick question. I have the 10x12 combo mat and am wondering if I need to use the push pins from underneath the mat into the connectors. I may want to move the mat at some point to another location and it looks like those push pins might be tough to remove. I am installing real-time so if someone could weigh in as soon as possible that would be much appreciated. Instructions included do call for them though the on-line video does not show them.

I don't have the combo may, just the 4x7 hitting mat. But if you are talking about the half circle or full circle rubber pieces that hold the corners of the rubber base together, mine stay in there nicely, but come out easily if I need to disassemble.

Yes, the half circle and full circle pieces also have push pins that come from underneath up into the half/full circle "feet". I am thinking these "feet" should do the trick without using the push-pins.

I just put the feet into the holes. I never saw any push pins with mine. But mine says together nicely without them.

Excellent. Good to hear. As a side note, I did ping Fiberbuilt directly and they said that the push pins are optional and that the mat is heavy enough to stay put without them.

Glad you got it sorted out. BTW, would love to hear your thoughts on the putting surface after you've had some time to test it. I need to find a good putting surface for when I move mine indoors after my house is built.

How does the putting feel on just their putting surface? How does the transition from the hitting strip to putting feel in sim play?

Considering the 10x10 or 10x12 combo for my plans.

Putting on the putting surface is fantastic. Very smooth, great roll. Putting from the hitting surface (which I do with GCQ), I am not as much of a fan as the ball takes a bit of a hop as it transitions from the hitting surface to the putting surface and occasionally at the strike for a longer putt - however, given I am putting at a hole on the screen it is not so bad. If I want specific putting practice, I aim at one of the cups off the putting surface and the results are great. Also, while not the question, the hitting surface is amazing - have been bashing balls every day with no elbow or wrist pain whatsoever - so in the whole an acceptable tradeoff for the occasional small hop/skip.

If you have the room, go for the 10x12 (a bit more putting room and gives me a 9'-10' hitting distance from screen) but either would be highly recommended from my point of view..

Thanks for the reply. I also will be using a GCQ in my setup and plan to hit from the centerline (just moving GCQ left and right if needed for multiplayer as I am lefthanded).

Good to know about the hitting surface. I am currently hitting off a 5x5 CCE mat in my garage and it does bother my elbow after some use and I am almost certain would develop injury if I pushed it.

Nice mat I’m looking at at the same one.

How is it holding up? I seen a reviewer post a photo of his mat and he loves it but I don’t it doesn’t look very good. I’m concerned about the seams.

I have a FB hitting mat...... I can't see my rubber base, like we can see this one. Those rubber connectors that hook the 2x2 base sections together need to be tapped down...... I think that this guy has the rubber base upside down. Actually the more I look at this picture, the more I am sure that the mat is upside down. The rubber connectors need to hook everything together from the top.

Not sure what is going on there but ours is completely flat - you cannot see a seam anywhere .......I posted a picture lower down in post #15 as an example.

Agreed, I will go with the hitting mat only and avoid the putting turf if that’s the case. I would have thought the guy would have posted a negative review of the ball didn’t roll right. Here’s the review:

how thick are the fiberbuilt mats? trying to plan for making the surrounding flooring level.

Fiberbuilt inserts are 1.5" not sure about the actual mat and rubber base.

Cannot add a picture to my comment above in post # 11 but here is our mat installed. Have had it for about 6 months now - very pleased.

It's hard to tell from that angle but it looks like you can't see the panel connections at all. In your case the ball must roll true or you would not be very pleased. Thanks for the additional photo.

What are the dimensions of your space and screen size including ceiling heights? Did you order the screen a little extra tall, so that it could be used in a taller space later? Looks great! thanks
