  • Turf and hitting mat question

I am building a DYI simulator. I ordered my turf from Par2pro and a CCE hitting strip from them as well. The turf is going to sit about a 3/4 of an inch lower than the hitting mat and I would like to have them flush with each other. Looking for ideas to build up the turf to create a level surface. Thanks in advance.

Sandwich some 1/2" of rigid Styrofoam insulation between two sheets of 1/4" plywood (use PL300 foam adhesive) and lay your mat on top. Then cut out the shape of your hitting mat in in your turf, the top sheet of plywood and the Styrofoam insulation. Set your hitting mat inside the opening. You may need to shim the mat up so it's even but if you pre-measure everything you should be good. Sounds like a lot of work but it's pretty cost-effective and keeps the unit relatively light as opposed to using a sheet of 3/4' plywood or something.

Has anyone used foam floor tiles to level out the hitting area?

I haven't myself but I have heard of/seen a lot of people using them

Do you mean like interlocking exercise tiles? Yes I've seen people use those, but more of a layer under a thin hitting mat

yes the interlocking tiles, just to build up turf around a hitting strip to make them sit flush
