  • DIY Hitting foundation for Fiberbuilt panel

Finally pulled trigger on Fiberbuilt 12 x 35 panel.

Thought I would share with community a DIY hitting foundation I built for it.

Cost me about another $100 in materials (1x2s, 1/2 inch plywood, Fairway Green Indoor/Outdoor area rug from Home Depot). I used a yoga mat I had as rug pad on plywood make standing on the platform more comfortable. I offer just the right amount of give. It is really solid and can moved around with minimal effort as i included handles and casters. It also makes aligning the Skytrak easier for me as align it with the platform.

I had built a similar one previous for a CCE strip however I started to feel stress on elbows. I immediately feel the difference using the Fiberbuilt as it is far more forgiving. My initial hesitation was justifying $249 for a hitting strip but worth every penny.

That is a super nice DIY setup. A few questions if you don't mind:

    1) What is the size of the frame where the turf sits? Looks like about 5' by just under 4'.
    2) Does the turf and FB strip attach to the plywood, or does it just sit snugly in there?
    3) Did you just get the appropriate size stance turf, and use a boxcutter (or whatever cutting tool) and just cut out the portion for the FB strip?
    4) In photo 4, I assume that is the bottom of the frame? Why isn't there a 3rd wooden cross bar for support? Would that cause imbalance given that appears to be the stance area?
    5) Is the portion where the SkyTrak sits attached to the frame, or is it just flush against it?

    Thanks.

      Great questions:

      1) 65"x 40"
      2) Turf is attached....actually stretched around wooden frame. Yoga mat underneath turf is stapled to plywood. FB singly fits in opening and does not move.
      3) Turf is Foss Fairway GreenIndoor/Outdoor Area Rug Home Depot $18. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Foss-Fai...J1L1/205617377
I did cut the turf easily with box cutter so that it wraps around 4 outer perimeter sides and 4 inner opening sides. I used canvas pliers to pull turf snugly around all sides and stapled along sides so no staples are visible.
      4) Photo 4 was a picture in progress. I have included current photo here with crossbars approx 12" on center
      5) Skytrak is sitting on separate mini platform (in progress) and will sit flush against platform. Want ability to easily slide Skytrak back and forth (depending on club) and not have to be concerned about realignment.

Used this concept & built one myself. I used a https://www.motivogolf.com Fairway One Pro stance mat & the FB insert.
