  • Help me decide on my putting and stance area

I posted this on the build your own section, but this seems like the better place to ask.

I'll be closing on my new house in July and am starting to work through my sim build. I'll be using the front living room for my setup which has a connected dining area. I currently have a fiberbuilt 4x7 hitting mat and will be going with a 11.5x7.5 screen from Carl's as I want to keep the dining area usable. I will be hitting centered from 9 feet away from the screen. I'm now trying to decide how to handle the putting area next to the screen. My two options are shown in the attached photos. The computer will go along the wall to the right of the hitting area. I like the idea of having a continuous putting/stance area, but am concerned with wearing the stance area and potentially having the turf shift under my feet. Putting/Stance turf options are Synlawn precision putt and TFD putting elite.

Option 1 is to use my current hitting mat butted against a 7x12 putting area. Option 2 is to use an 11x12 putting area with my fiberbuilt strip inserted. Which one would you choose?

ScoggyDoogan I prefer option 2, which is what i went with, just think it looks a bit better. But I think you'd be happy with either

That's what I'm thinking as well jerry3. I just wanted to make sure there won't be an issue with it shifting under my feet.

It won't shift much if any. could also just use carpet tape to adhere the green to the floor

I also went with option 2 and it looks awesome. Only problem I foresee is the putting turf maybe getting worn out in the spots where we stand every time and hit from. I've had mine a few months and I can see the spots where I stand, almost as if the turf is matted down in those areas. I wanted to have a area to practice putting to all 4 corners from 12 feet and in so I didn't sink in a stance mat. I'm going to see if I can wet the turf and brush it back up

I have my turf on top of plywood with carpet tape along the edges, the weight of it won't allow it to move and it has a thick enough padding under it as well.
