  • Flooring Plan

I'm in the process of planning my new sim room and construction is set to start pretty soon. I am planning on a raised floor with a hitting insert in the center. The area 16'W x 36'L. I am planning on a 16'W x 16'L area of turf. What do you guys think of this plan I put together?

1" Rigid Foam 4'x8' Insulation Panels
    1/2" Interlocking Foam Tiles
    1/2" Turf (TFD Putting Elite)

I will be using either a Fiberbuilt insert (12' x 35") or the YG-3D Golf mat insert of the same size.

I was thinking about building a frame with plywood but this seems much easier, would be cheaper, and would probably be quieter than plywood. I know it's not really meant to stand on, but I was able to walk on a section of the foam insulation panels in the store and it doesn't give like I thought it might. Plus with the layer of tiles and turf on top I think it would be fine. Depending on the cost of the turf I think I'm looking at around $1000 all in. Does anybody have a setup like this? Thoughts?

    Thanks

I have 1 inch foam exercise tiles and then 1/2" Pro Putt / One Putt turf on top of that. It sits nearly flush with either a Fiberbuilt insert or the YGT-3D mat. I bought some rubber sheeting (1/8 inch?) that I placed underneath to help even it out. This works just fine for me it isn't squishy at all and feels stable enough to swing from and solid for putting.
