Carpet or artificial grass

I’m looking at building my sim inside a room at the rear of my house and I’m looking for some advice on the flooring.
Ive bought a 5ft x 5ft hitting Matt to sit in the middle, but would also like to cover the rest of the floor (tiled at the mo) in either carpet or artificial grass. Which is the best option from an asthetics point and a safety durability.

I think it boils down to personal preference. I went carpet route on my SIM because I wanted some contrast in color with my mat and it was significantly cheaper. I went to local carpet outlet and found a low pile commercial carpet. I had the outside edges bound so they would not unravel and then cutout a section in carpet to put my mat. I used rubber stall mats as subfloor layer to reduce ball bounce and provide a curb so my hitting mat would not move. Here is pic of it will under construction. Good luck.

I had my garage carpeted with garage carpet, grey with black fledc, good heavy duty & great for putting from any where.

I would suggest the carpet look if that is what you want. The contrast from the carpet and hitting area looks really "finished" off nice. Easy to keep clean and looks good.

Here's another option... I searched on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace for artificial turf. I found a handful of companies that sell previously used turf. I went with a piece of a football field that had a rubber pad underneath it. It's in really good condition, looks sharp and really deadens balls coming off the screen. I think I paid $190 for a 12 x 14 section. The line helps a lot with aligning the SkyTrak.

I'm curious as to why you have 2 gel sections in your truestrike setup, both on the same side. Any particular reason?

I found my turf the same way, through a CL ad and got a great price on it to cover my whole garage floor.

Yes sir. My Skytrak and hitting mat was a package deal from someone selling it preowned. We're all right handed so we just configured the mats so it fit our area best. One gel unit had been used before (far right) so we just basically moved it out of the way to give yourself more room on the rest of the mat.

Apparently my choices are slightly more limited as I found out that ProTee cameras pick up light reflections from Nylon, and that I need to stick very specifically with PolyEthylene (PE) turf.
So, for ProTee, 1.) NO nylon, 2.) YES Polyethylene.

Just wondering - can everyone here please comment if their Carpet Turf has Nylon in it?

Also, can someone with a ProTee setup recommend specific turf they used so as not to reflect light (I am guessing it would be polyethylene, or some material that has no nylon in it)? I am also looking very specifically for 2 turfs, one would be a stance mat of some type, that I will embed my ProTee sensor into, and would have a soft feel of real outside grass, the other turf would be the rest of my simulator (about 12' x 15') that will be used for putting on, only, as practice, into actual embedded cups.
