  • Best mats available in the UK?

Hi - I'm after some advice for a mat to use outdoors, mostly straight on top of concrete but occasionally put onto turf too. The main criteria are the ability to hit down on the ball without hurting joints, whilst also keeping a moderately realistic feedback. Happy to pay a premium for it but the main concern is what's available in the UK!

I've seen Mag-Strike, TrueStrike and Quattro mats available (albeit with hefty delivery fees), but having never used them I'm a bit mindful about shelling out the best part of £500 without some proper advice.

Does anyone have any experience with these (or others), where have you bought mats from in the UK and do you have any recommendations?

    Thanks!

Hi, i bought a 1.5x1.5 mat from Mark at amtechrange

    https://www.amtechrange.co.uk/produc...turf-150-x-150

Its currently sold out though - delivery was next day and about £230 ish in total.
I cant say i am not totally pain free - i feel a slight ache in both elbows after hitting on the mat. But that is hitting 3 or 4 balls a minute - solid for an hour.

    I would definitely recommend it.
I wanted a fibrebuilt mat but couldn't find good value in the UK.

    Good luck

Happy with my Truestrike, no problems so far. Bought the original gel section mat from golfswingsystems, then later added a couple of the stance mats from the truestrike UK store. Not the best way to do it, since I paid twice for postage!

I’ve been looking at just the strike mat, is that what you have? I’m wondering if I can integrate it into my current mat that’s not true strike

Sorry, didn't notice your question earlier. The truestrike wouldn't fit easily with other mats. Each section has plastic tabs that stick out all along the long edges. These allow it to interlock with other truestrike sections. You can see this here: https://www.truestrike.com/golf-mats/mat-sections/

I had that mat. I bought it after testing most of the tee turf type mats available in the UK. I chose it because it seemed the least grabby of that type of mat.

However I ended up with tendonitis in both elbows, my view it was the least likely mat to cause issues of that type but still caused me issues.

I found a good deal on a Fibrebuilt mat and am now using that with no issues.

Thanks - how would you say the feel off it compares to conventional mats and actual turf?

I haven't tried any other "premium" mats. Definitely better than standard driving range mats.

Hi, speak to Phil Stewart at https://www.hybridme.co.uk/ I've bought my stance mat and a few hitting strips from him in the past and they've been spot on, not as tough on the joints as the CCE mats yet still give that good level feedback so you know when you've flushed it of chunked it..

I use the tee turf from golf swing systems (www.golfswingsystems.co.uk) and it seems very good but they stock loads of different options and always give unbiased information. Give Chris a shout; depending where you live you could probably try them before buying.

Where abouts in the UK are you? I have a truestrike that I used outdoors. I am now building indoors and wont be using the truestrike. Wasn't overly used so the gel section in great conditions although stance mats the turf has come unclipped from base. Be open to selling if you were interested.

That's only about 40 minutes from me in the car - I'll send you a DM to talk it over

I just got off the phone to Phil from Hybrid Me, who was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.

We talked through all the pros and cons of the options available on the market and I ended up going for the T40 mat, which is back in stock on his website now. It sounds like the T40 is the best option for me in terms of being forgiving enough on the joints, whilst still giving proper feedback on fat shots.

Can't recommend Phil enough - if anyone in the future finds this thread and is looking for UK-based simulator equipment or advice then I'd go straight to https://www.hybridme.co.uk/

Thanks to everyone for the advice and suggestions and thanks for the chat Phil!
