making my own hitting mat

Hi guys - has anyone attempted to make their own hitting mat? Bunnings here in australia has some decent tough looking artificial grass meant for sports - its a 20mm pile and looks pretty good. Its on special just now at only $35 aud / linear meter - 1.8m wide. I was thinking about buying some of this and using a glue to adhere it to a dense 40mm foam backing. Is it possible to do this - what kind of glue do you think should be used?

I built this using turf from Lowes and i got fatigue mats from our local Harbor freight and used cheap clear silicone to glue all layers together. I used a Fiberbuilt mat as my hitting mat so i had to build it up using two layers of fatigue mat to reach the height of the Fiberbuilt mat. Total mat size is 5ft wide by 6 foot long.

Thanks Mr Chick - thats exactly what I am trying to achieve! Now when you say cheap clear silicone - do you mean something like Gorilla glue? Can you post a picture or a weblink to the glue you used?

Basically anything like this from any hardware store you have nearby. Doesn't have to be this brand any brand that is 100% silicone. I got mine at our local Lowes.
