Fiberbuilt strip question

I am in the process of building a new simulator, and I have a CCE mat that I got for a good deal. After doing more reading, it seems that hitting off the CCE might be uncomfortable, so I am looking at cutting in a fiberbuilt strip (or similar if others have suggestions) to hit off. On the fiberbuilt site, it says the 1x3 strip has no foundation under it....so what are people using for padding when using this strip? Thanks for any help you good people have to offer!

I just use an old piece of carpet, installed upside down (to protect the hardwood underneath). If i hit wedges with a steep descending blow, it feels a little hard. But it's not that bad.

If you are talking about the 1x3 strip enclosed in the Fiberbuilt supplied frame it is about 1/2 inch or so higher then the CCE mat. In my case I just put some 1/2 cheap plywood under the CCE mat to make the surface of the CCE mat and Fiberbuilt strip the same height. My setup is on a concrete floor in the garage so I have some anchor lugs in the floor to keep everything from sliding around especially when I park the car in the garage..

if you don;t have some kind of anchoring setup the mat will slide around some and unless you have a fixed relationship between the LM and the hitting surface the LM will read azimuth and possibility spin axis incorrectly relative to your aim line. Remember any LM reads direction relative to it's orientation.

In my setup the Fiberbuilt strip is simply placed on the edge of the CCE mat and held in place with two anchor bolts to the floor.

Aside from all that you might want to try just using the CCE mat. If you are not a deep divot but rather a shallow divot sweeper type you may be all right using the just the CEE mat. I used just the mat for quite a few years with no problem. I only started using the strip when I switched golf course membership from a Zoysia course to a bent/ bluegrass layout which required a steeper angle of attack for irons to be hit crisply.

Yeah I will probably be hitting on carpet for a little while until I get my dedicated room built...if that’s the case, I may be able to hit off the CCE only for now? Once I switch to a concrete floor, maybe the additional padding will be more important..?
