  • Net Return Pro Turf w/ insert, or a dedicated hitting mat?

I'm planning my simulator build, and it has to be able to be easily moved. I'm planning on going w/ the Net Return net that I'll mostly use as a net so it's quiet, but occasionally add a screen.

what I'm wondering, is do I go with the Net Return Pro Turf 6x10 mat, and make a cut out for a fiberbuilt or quattro strip? Or, do I go with a standalone mat and get some cheap turf to lie down for the balls to land/return on?

If it helps, I'll either be on concrete or hardwood flooring. I like the idea of the Net Return Pro Turf being a solid surface all the way from hitting to the net, which has to roll better and be better for putting. But, I think I'll have to add foam tiles or plywood to raise the turf up if I do add a cut out for a better hitting surface.

I'll also be moving everything but the net between uses, so preferably the mat isn't a total PITA to deal with. Because of this reason alone, I think a stand alone mat and cheap turf or even maybe a rug might be the way to go (lighter, easier to move, shouldn't have to fiddle with foam squares etc). But, will this absolutely kill putting if there's a drop off from the mat to the turf that runs up to the net?

I went with the stand-alone Quattro 5x5 mat. If I ever find myself building out a stance mat, I can use this for hitting strips.

I tried the net return turf with foam puzzle tiles under it and the fiberbuilt flight deck cut into it. I didn't like it and could never get the right balance between ow, my elbow on hard floors or bouncing like I'm on the moon. I'd recommend a dedicating hitting mat.

Thanks - reconfirms my decision. I got the quattro mat today and it feels fantastic. I recently played a shitty local course that has super tee mats (just so i could hit off the mats, lol) and I have to say the quattro feels about 10x better. It's a little less punishing than I thought it would be on fat shots, but still lets you know you're hitting it fat. The best part is you can take a pretty solid divot without any pain. Really satisfying strike and feedback.
