Long term results with putting green over foam squares?

I'm considering, as many others have, using 1" thick foam squares with 1/2" thick putting green material on top. (that way can match the hitting mat surface height of 1.5")

Does anyone have long term results with putting green over foam squares? Any bubbling up of the squares or ripples or seams showing after use for sometime etc? thanks

also, wondering as to what model of 1" high density foam squares were used?

I've had my turf sitting on 1" foam for over a year now in the garage. No issues at all with bubbling or weird seams showing up. It lines up almost perfectly with fiberbuilt hitting strip cut into it.

I'm curious if you had to glue down the pro putt turf to the foam tiles? I am planning the flooring for my simulator and I want it like you have it with the hitting strip inserted such that it's flush with the putting turf. My concern is that unless the putting turf is glued down, the torque force from the hitter will cause the putting turf to move or buckle.

The surface area provides enough friction that it isn't going to budge. The pro putt turf does stick up on the edges so I used extra strong carpet tape for those and it stays down.

Pickled Notice I cut this perfectly nice 12x10 foot turf into multiple sections. Don't do that! Really *think* long term before you cut any turf. It sits down much nice in large pieces whereas I've had to glue these sections down a couple of times.

*also note this pic has a diff insert mat in place.. i've tried several but I always go back to the fiberbuilt strip.

No cups that is just a flat piece of plastic the shape of a hole.

frodaddy00 Thank for the photo and great tip. I wouldn't cut any turf into multiple sections. The pro put would be 1 roll with a square cut out for the hitting mat. Why did you cut yours into sections?

So you ended up cutting the the fiberbuilt strip into a hitting mat? Looks pretty clean at the fiberbuilt strip.

@frodadd00 how did you keep the FB matt insert perfectly still? I literally just bought a 4X7 FB mat and this post messed with my head. Im not the handiest guy so im cautious about blowing up my plan but this is visually more appealing
