  • Fiberbuilt 1x3 strip backing

I was planning to build the fiberbuilt strip into my floor. I raised the floor with 1” interlocking foam panels and grasstex one putt on top. I am cutting the fiberbuilt into this floor so it sits flush.

As shown in the pic the FB strip has a metal backing. And hitting that against the concrete is loud and rattles a bit. Do people remove those? Looking for what others with similar setups did. Thanks

I put a couple strips of mounting tape on the bottom of my FB strip. The tape is about 1/8” thick so it dampens the sound plus holds strip in place.

They put the metal on there for a reason. I guess there was warping issues without it in the past??????

there are actually 2 separate pieces. remove the backing and there is nothing to tie them together for stability

I bought two used 4' x 5' mats from a range and when I got them home I couldn't get the strips to fit in the rubber base. I took the metal strips off and it fit like a glove, it's been over a year without any issues.

I even bought a new 1' x 1' section from Jwheels9876 and it fit perfectly in my strip without the metal.

I put rubber sheet underneath mine. If you are more adventurous you could change their screws with flush sheet metal screws (would only lose about 1/8" of height).
