  • Divot Action, Skytrak, and TGC 2019

I am considering getting the Divot Action mat to use with Skytrak, and am intrigued by the "Rough" and "Sand" options that can be added to the mat. Picture attached.

I think the way TGC works it essentially provides a distance penalty if you're in the rough, sand, etc.

Does anyone have the Divot Action with those additional inserts and use those during TGC play? Is it possible to turn off the "lie penalty" aspect of TGC and have the rough/sand mat inserts account for that?

Hopefully that makes sense. Curious if anyone else has tried it.

    Thanks.

I don't believe the lie penalty can be turned off, but I could be wrong. In order to use that with a skytrak you'll need to set the skytrak on a sliding rail to move your hitting spot back and forth between the different lies.

Can I not just pick it up and move it? I was figuring I would just mark out three boxes next to each panel and move it there. But maybe I’m unaware of how it works.

Each time you move it the alignment may get a little off. Good alignment is key to success with skytrak and that's going to get thrown off each time you pick it up and move it. In theory you probably could get away with it if you had an alignment stick or something that you used to keep it parallel each time you moved it. I've seen people do the sliding rail thing and it looks pretty cool. Honestly, I think moving it around all the time while you play is going to be more hassle than what it's worth. Just my honest opinion. The lie penalty that the game gives you is simple and straightforward. And like I said, I'm not so sure that it can be turned off.

Got it, thank you. I suppose a moot point if the penalty cannot be altered. Appreciate the feedback.
