Mat Question

Hi all,

I currently have a 5x5 mat but it is much too firm to be hitting off of. I was wondering if I added a Fiberbuilt or TruStrike strip next to it, would it stay in place? I am not sure of the backing on these. Has anyone extended their existing mat by adding a more forgiving strip like I am describing?

The 3’x1’ Fiberbuilt strip is fairly heavy, and would be relatively stable if placed directly on the ground. You may need to raise it slightly to sit flush with your mat. In the event that either option starts to move, you can use carpet tape or heavy-duty Velcro to hold it in place. If you’re handy, you could also build a wooden frame to keep it next to your mat.

I went through similar planning options and ended up buying the 7x4 package. I opted to allocate more of my budget on a solid mat, and I’ve been very happy with both aesthetics and performance.

The TrueStrike mat is pretty heavy, and sits on four rubber feet. Even so, if using just the gel section on its own I think it will creep forward a bit as you repeatedly hit off it. When its connected to the range mat sections, and you are standing on them, it doesn't go anywhere. If you are trying to use it next to any other type of mat be aware that it has "fingers" that extend out from the sides which allow it to interlock with other TrueStrike sections, or a trim strip.

Fiberbuilt strip is actually 12x12 tiles that key together then are screwed into with some aluminum angle underneath. The result seems to me like it would be two rails for it to slide on without some sort of restraint.

Just a guess, as I have the FB tray that holds it all, but the rails might be the challenge.
