  • SIGPRO mats has anyone tried them?

Looking to build a SIM and curious to hear some feedback on the SIGPRO mats from Shop Indoor Golf.
figure I can always switch out the hitting strip with a FB if I don't like it.
    Thank you in advance.

I bought a SIG10 full package just before Thanksgiving and received all the pieces except for the SkyTrak about 10 days ago. I originally upgraded to the FiberBuilt since that was still an option at that point. But I found out that the FiberBuilt was likely backordered until February. I'm impatient and looking for something to do during this pandemic winter, so I decided to change to the SIGPro mat, which came within a few days. In these first 10 days I've hit hundreds of balls off of it.

A little bit of background: I am a high handicap golfer (~20) and I don't have a ton of knowledge across different types of mats. I won't be able to give you a detailed comparison between the SIGPRO and Fiberbuilt. I can just tell you my impressions of the SIGPRO. I have included a bunch of pictures to go along with my take.

My first impression of it while unboxing and setting it up is that it comes across as kind of cheap. It's very light (which they give as a selling point, but it's not like I'm going to be moving this thing). It seems like some simple foam with the same thin turf on most of it as the landing pad that comes with the SIG10 package. Then there's a relatively small insert that you hit off of which is thicker than the turf on the rest of the mat. Note: I think this insert is much different than the Fiberbuilt one (for one, it doesn't go the full length of the mat) and I seriously doubt you'd be able to swap them like you mentioned. I will say that while it comes with a huge roll of carpet tape to keep it from sliding, I have not needed that at all on my concrete floor. It doesn't move. It is also a lot thicker than I expected at maybe 3". I have a pretty tight simulator room with my ceilings at 8' 10", so this is a bit of a concern for me with my driver. I'm not sure how thick the other mats are, but it's way thicker than any driving range mat I've ever hit off of.

One of the biggest reasons I was willing to switch from the Fiberbuilt to the SIGPRO is that it takes a real tee. This seemed much better. In hindsight, I don't really think so, but we'll see when I get the SkyTrak and start playing real courses instead of just hitting into the screen while watching TV. For one, I'd definitely need to get different tees than I currently have based on how high I like to tee it up with both my irons (just about on the ground) and my driver (fairly high). That's obviously not a huge deal, but the hitting area I believe is one inch thick. I have a ton of 2" tees that I use for my irons on the course, but no way I could use them on this. I don't even think 1.5" ones would work. The other reason I don't think i'll use real tees is that I plan on playing a lot and will inevitably break a ton of them. Just doesn't seem worth it. I bought these and we'll see how I like them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I do really like the look of it. I love how it goes with the landing pad and the rest of my setup and looks really clean, nice, and high-end when it's all set up. As I said, I don't have a ton of experience with mats and I have never hit as many balls in such a short period of time as I have in the last 10 days, so it's hard for me to give a good critique of how "real" it feels and how easy it is on my joints. I do have some elbow and wrist pain after these 10 days, but I'm likely overdoing it combined with my high handicap game where I hit it fat more than many will.

My personal impression of these is that they seem pretty good and go really well with the overall SIG10 setup, but it feels like they were just looking for a way to squeeze more margin out of their packages. How in the world they charge $800 for two pieces of foam and some thin turf is beyond me. But mats are pretty universally expensive, so maybe I'm missing something. Just really doesn't seem like I should be paying the same price for a 4' by 7' piece of foam and thin turf as I did for my iPhone.

I hope that helps! Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Edit: This is my first post here and I cannot get my images to show up.

I have the 5x5 mat that came with the sig10. Had a case case of golfers elbow in left arm, and now dealing with tennis elbow in right arm lol.

as far as tees, I stopped using real tees and went to birtees. Much easier to find, since regular tees go flying and sometimes I have no idea where they land.
