  • Hitting mat flush with putting surface for Quattro mat

I am working on a garage build and purchased a Quattro mat (listed at 1.25in thick). My plan is to also put down interlocking foam tiles and cover it with cheap Grizzly Grass from Lowes (listed at 0.375in thick). So this would mean the foam tiles should be 0.875in (7/8in) thick to match everything up perfectly.

My question is, has anyone seen foam tiles that are 7/8in thick? If not do you think it would be better to go with 3/4in foam tiles and just plan to have a 1/8in drop from hitting mat to the Grizzly Grass or go with 1" foam tiles and try to find a carpet pad that is 1/8in thick to go under the Quattro mat. My fear with the 1" tiles is I'd be risking having the Quattro mat slightly below the rest of the surface if the carpet pad sinks down, and just for general stability does anyone have any thoughts on if a carpet pad below the Quattro mat would be a bad idea?

Do you think I should go with the 3/4" or 1" foam tiles?

    Thanks!

Your call but I would go the 3/4" route. My thinking is the putts will roll off the higher hitting surface and I think might look better - in fact, you may not even really notice. The other way around the putts would hop every tome you hit the higher surface if you cannot even it out. My two cents.
