Mat setup to save money

Hi, rather than spending $1,000 +/- on a expensive mat with insert I have an alternate that can be built for $630. I purchased a 5 foot by 10 foot simulator mat with a poly backing from 5 star mats for $511. It is well built and heavy and do to its size it does not move an inch so I did not have to use tape or Velcro on my nice turf. I purchased a divot action strip from custom despising golf 12 inch by 24 inch and cut it into the mat. The mat and strip are both 1- 1/4 inch so no need to level anything.
the total cost is $630 .

Nice setup. How is it on the joints/wrists? I have a terrible case of tennis elbow and I thought my mat was pretty soft at first. Guess it wasn’t.

Am using fiber built 5x5 square. Probably just from overuse and maybe not the mat itself.

Sixmudd are you doing anything about your tennis elbow? I have it as well, and have been looking for solutions. Cortisone shots only last a few months.

I bought a theraband flexbar on Amazon and been doing some of the exercises a few times a day. It was cheap -about $20. I also have not played in two weeks since selling my skytrak. Just ordered a quad so gonna just take it easy until it arrives and see it that makes it go away. So far I think it’s working 🤷🏿♂️

I did the same and had it shipped to the UK, using a 2 x 1 tee turf mat

Alex.Morgan - that looks great, but what do you have under that divot action? It looks like nothing but concrete? Is it possible to lift up a little higher, thicker mat that it is cut into?

Yea just the concrete floor underneath on my setup. They did say you could use a piece of wood etc to lift it up to correct height as long as its something solid

Joe M. Did you install the Divot action in the middle of you 5x10 mat? It looks offset in the 2nd pic.

It is offset. My room is only 15 feet wide so setting up for a righty in the middle would bring my swing close to the wall on follow through. I have only been using my sim for a few weeks and still suffer from inside swing syndrome. I have lost about 5 mph in swing speed. Hopefully I get it back soon. The setup is fine. I stand basically in the middle of the room directly under my projector which is about 7.5 feet from the screen

Thanks for all the info Joe M. I just ordered the exact same set-up. Recived the stance mat yesterday & hoping to get the Divot Action this week. I currently am experienceing Tennis elbow as others on this forum have. Once it heals I think this may resolve my issue for good. I was previously hitting off a CCE.

Hi, I have to say that after a full week of use I’m really impressed with the DivotAction strip I purchased from Custom Design Golf. The customer service I received from the owner was great. He was very responsive and I believe I have the best setup for eliminating injuries and getting real accurate results. I highly recommend this set up.

I really like the way your space turned out. Thank you for sharing, as this is exactly what I've been looking for. I am in the very early stages of planning a garage build and I need to be able to store everything when done. Do you think it could be rolled up and stored, or is it too heavy?

I think it would be a lot of work. For a garage build I would spend the extra money and have a retractable screen
